MicroGrams is a compact messaging tool for exchanging structured information with shared form templates. By transmitting encoded responses instead of full text, operators can move reports, requests, status updates, and other field data using significantly fewer characters.
MicroGrams can be used over any text-based communications path where message size matters, including amateur radio digital modes, packet networks, mesh systems, satellite links, email gateways, and low-bandwidth communications networks.
Important
Encoded answers only decode correctly when both stations have the same current form template, including the same form ID, question order, answer codes, and prompt IDs.

Full communications platforms are valuable when every participant has compatible software, shared settings, and the supporting services already in place. The harder situation is an ad hoc or mixed-system operation where a temporary station, field team, partner organization, or receiving operator needs only a compatible way to create or interpret the message.
MicroGrams separates the compact-form workflow from the transport carrying it. It produces portable text that can be moved through whatever path is already available, without trying to control the radio, replace the communications network, or require every station to adopt the same application.
That makes it useful as a common fallback, a training aid, and a bridge between otherwise different systems. Shared form definitions and locally loaded forms also let a group establish a compatible workflow without waiting for a custom form to be published or permanently installed on a server.
